Keighley fielded several new players to open against Otley who passed well to open up Keighley’s defence resulting in an unconverted try after three minutes.

Keighley responded positively and recycled the ball well through Jonny Tanner at scrum Half allowing Ryan Vero, Henry Pratt and Lewis Taylor to run hard. At the breakdown Billy Todd, Jobe Saint, Ben Fairbairn and McKenzie Kirkland competed well to drive Keighley towards the Otley where Sam Cubitt and Bradley Akrigg ripped the ball free for Akrigg to force over for the try which Jordan Powell converted effortlessly.

Keighley now grasped the initiative and ran hard at Otley with Jack Blagboro and Bill Cubitt on the wings supporting well in both attack and defence, whilst Jordan Powell kicked well at Full Back from defence to turn defence into an attacking opportunity and from one of these Ryan Vero opened up Otley to score an excellent try. Powell again converted to give Keighley a nine point lead.

Otley fought back and a strong tackle by Powell denied them a score in the corner, they fought back and crossed Keighley’s try line but Vero and Todd prevented the Otley player from grounding the ball.

Otley scored with only a minute left, and despite converting the try Keighley kept them at bay to secure the win.
