Keighley U13s Never Give In

A great start for Keighley, shortly after Bradford Salem kicked off, Jack Smith won the ball and ran the full length of the pitch with Bradford Salem players in hot pursuit before planting the ball in the middle of the posts giving Keighley their first try which was converted by Gregor Curr

7 -0

Keighley continued to play well, lots of good passing between Nathan Pickles, Kristian Bealey-Kay, Smith, Denon Sokee and Toby Stephens before Salem won the ball back. Keighley maintained a good line of defence with some great tackles by Bealey-Kay and Sokee before they reached the try line and Bradford Salem scored their first try which they converted.

7 - 7

Keighley continued with good passes, play went to a scrum which was won by Salem but the ball came back to Keighley following great defences by Curr, Joey Van Suilichem and Bealey-Kay. Another scrum saw Keighley win the ball but Salem battled to get the ball back and scored another try which they converted.

7 - 14

The lead up to half time saw numerous line outs being won by both Keighley and Salem before another race for Salem’s try line but Keighley were unlucky as the ball was held up as the whistle blew for half time.

The second half saw Salem back stronger while Keighley maintained a great defence with tackles from Bealey-Kay and Johnny Atherton. Salem held on to the ball even though Keighley put them under pressure. This did not stop Salem who scored three tries in quick success and converted two of them.

7 – 33

Keighley didn’t back down and made a last attempt at the try line, which saw Bealey-Kay score Keighley’s 2nd try which wasn’t converted before the final whistle was blown.
