If this match had a school report it would read only 3 words "Must Do Better"
Keighley started brightly enough with Man of the Match Nathan Berry busting the Aireborough defence on a number of occasions and making some good yards . Unfortunately Keighley weren't able to benefit from any of these.
Aireborough looked a better drilled team and opened the scoring after a scrum led to short range try on 15 minutes. From then Aireborough had all the trump cards and should have gone further ahead but knocked on with the try line begging . On 25 minutes Keighley went further behind from a penalty making the score 0-10.
By now Keighley were pressing the self destruct button with poor tackling and indiscipline and on 35 minutes more sloppy defence through the centres let Aireborough in under the sticks , a missed conversion made the score 0-15. On the stroke of half time Aireborough scored their 3rd try of the afternoon which again was unconverted , this brought a disappointing half to close with a 0-20 scoreline.
The Keighley half time team talk was not for the faint hearted and obviously made an impact on the team as they started the second half with more aggression, and on 45 minutes opened their account , after quick hands through the backs saw Tom Stell touching down wide out. A superb Jordan Powell conversion made the score 7-20. From then the game turned scrappy with tempers flaring on a number of occasions with neither side able to gain a strangle hold on the game.
On 65 minutes Keighley were unfortunate to be held up over the line through some good last ditch tackling from Aireborough. On 70 minutes Tom Stell marked his first game of the season with his 2nd try of the game after picking up a loose pass off his bootlaces to go in at the corner . Jordan Powell unable to add the extras made the score 12-20. As the clock ticked down Aireborough capitalised on a Keighley mistake on their own try line to score a soft try and added the extras to make the final score 12-27.
Stand out performances coming from Nathan Berry , Jack Mcfail and James Tillotson in a team performance lacking in attack, defence and discipline. Up next Otliensiens
