Staged at Skipton, Keighley under 11s took to the final after despatching Cleckheaton and the hosts themselves on the way with performances that, although not representative of their true potential, were workmanlike and effective. Harvey Kemp and Ryan Gibson scored the points that ensured progress.
Any nerves were left on the touchline in the final as both the Keighley pack and their running backs were totally committed to a man. Old Brodleians were hardly able to attack or break the line as fierce tackling, particularly from scrum half Matthew Paul, repelled all. As much as they defended, they were able to build in offense and their technical skills at the ruck proved vital, creating clean ball for the runners to exploit. Ryan Gibson used this to full effect, bagging a brace of tries and converting both. Old Brodleians did manage to cross the whitewash but it was in vain as Samuel Grant skippered his team to victory.
This was a deserved win for the developing team in which all players showed the skill and cohesion that they possess.
