Keighley got their season back on track with 2 decisive and emphatic wins against a spirited and organised Ilkley side.
Within 2 minutes of the start of Game 1 Jaydon Emmott’s pace from a slip pass from Zac Scott saw the full back slide into the right corner to open the scoring.
Before ½ time Keighley’s powerful forward paring of Jack Rodbourne and Joss McArthur had added one-a-piece after good breakdown work by Keir Welch, James Field and Jack McHugh. Lennon Curr converting all 3 tries.
The second half panned out much the same but after both Rodbourne and Bobby Darbyshire with a visionary interception try had increased Keighley’s lead further, Ilkley pulled back a converted try.
Keighley however consolidated, added another Darbyshire try with one in reply from Ilkley and rounded off with a Curr try in the dying seconds to finish on top at 45 points to 14 points.
The second game also went very much according to plan with McArthur adding another 2 tries to his first game single and powerful forward Harry Gould muscling his way over for his first. Curr missing a brace of conversions but scoring another to bring his days’ tally to 17 points.
Keighley continued their domination in the second half, shutting out a spirited Ilkley offence while adding 3 unanswered converted tries from Emmott, Joe Myers and Darbyshires’ 3rd of the day, all converted by Scott. Final Score Keighley 38 – Ilkley 0
