With their tails up after their first match victory, Keighley started the second game against hosts Kirkby Lonsdale at full speed and their efforts and resolution quickly produced results when good rucking from the Keighley pack fronted by McArthur and Harvey Bird deep in the KL half allowed Scott room and time to surge forward then ping a slick pass to McHugh who duly applied the finishing touches to Keighley’s first score of the game. Curr added the extra 2 points
Kirkby Lonsdale 0 – Keighley 7

Despite resolute defence by KL, full back Bobby Darbyshire snaffled a long range clearance and jinked into the KL half, going to ground before allowing first Welch, then Curr and Scott to all combine to free up McHugh again for his second try of the match which Lawrie converted.
Kirkby Lonsdale 0 – Keighley 14

KL pushed forward in quick phases and despite Keighley turning over and then losing advantage on their own 5 metre line, a penalty given for offside allowed KL’s powerful Prop Forward to power over to reduce the deficit.
Kirkby Lonsdale 5 – Keighley 14 – Half Time

KL had their tails up at the start of the second half, but playing uphill, the Keighley pack showed their mettle and the forwards began once more to dominate, winning consecutive scrums against the head. Rolling deep into the KL half, a loose ball released from the breakdown was sized on by Curr who side-stepped away from desperate KL tacklers to score. Scott duly converted to increase the margin.
Kirkby Lonsdale 5 – Keighley 21

With KL’s frustration beginning to show with some scrappy play from the hosts, Keighley’s domination continued as Hooker Rodbourne showed steely determination and getting his just rewards for his tireless effort powering over in typical style to ramp up the pressure on KL. Curr added the 2 points.
Kirkby Lonsdale 5 – Keighley 28

With Keighley’s confidence increasing play by play and KL’s frustration becoming more apparent, a scything tackle by a KL forward in a vain attempt to stop Darbyshire’s jinking run from a desperate high ball out of defence bought the game to a premature halt with Keighley in control.
Final Score - Kirkby Lonsdale 5 – Keighley 28
