KRUFC are deeply saddened to report that David Owen passed away on Thursday 19th February in the evening. It was the day of his 86th birthday. Apparently, he was sitting in his chair in the evening as normal and had spoken to team colleagues of his era earlier in the day. His wife Diana went upstairs to bed and when David did not follow shortly afterwards she went down stairs to find him passed away in his chair, believed to have suffered a severe stroke.
David was a true gentlemen, who played for our first team as a scrum half during the 60s decade and into the 70s.
He came to Keighley in 63-64 season from Roundhay having bought a house in Cullingworth. He was associated with the insurance industry for the whole of his life and arranged all kinds of insurance for many members at Keighley.
Our sincere condolences are extended to his wife, Diana; his children Caroline and John and to their extended family. RIP David and rise in glory.
