Funeral details: Fri 3rd Jan 2025. 12:30pm at Haworth Parish Church.
Ronnie, affectionately known as 'Rhubarb' was a 1st XV prop in the early 1960s
He ran his own business as a roofer, damp proofer, plasterer and builder.
He was a tee-totaller for most of his life.
About 4 years ago, when he was 82, he was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for having dedicated over 40 years of his life to charitable work and volunteering for services to young people and the community, particularly with the Scouting Movement. He was a member of the 1st Keighley (Fell Lane) troop, whose headquarters were just a stone throw from his house.
He was supported by his wife Eileen in this work, who sadly passed away on 18th December 2023.
For several years he organised the 'penny wagon' which led the Annual Keighley Gala Procession, whereby spectators threw coins into the back of his flat loader wagon and those that missed were picked up by his scouts who accompanied the vehicle.
Our heart-felt condolences go to his son, Andrew, and daughter Catherine and their families.
