Tony died on 3rd February 2023 following a stroke about 10 days before. He would have been 87 in April. Tony Lang was a former 1st XV player and a big friend of John "Bert" Ellis. He came to Keighley in 1967 from Baildon and preferred No.8 position but at the time he was having to compete with Gerry O'Dwyer and so Tony found himself in the 2nd row all too often. In recent years he came along, with his 'little buddy' John Ellis, to our Former Players Reunions.
He started life as an apprentice pattern maker and made the shelving behind the bar at our Thwaites clubhouse, but eventually went into the family business, started by his father, manufacturing ladies hair lacquer. His wife Joyce passed away some years ago.
Our condolences go to his daughters Helen and Joanne and their families.
Details of his funeral arrangements will be posted when they are known.
