The planned game between Yorkshire Ladies and NLD Ladies due to take place at Keighley RUFC has been cancelled. See below for details.

Back in October 2016 Keighley RUFC were asked if they would like to host one of Yorkshire Ladies County Games and following discussions, it was agreed that we would host Yorkshire Ladies v Notts, Lincs and Derby Ladies at 3pm on Sunday 30th April 2017.
Plans have been formulated over the intervening months to facilitate hosting this game.
A second Yorkshire Ladies game was fixed up to be played at West Park Leeds on Sun 7th May.

When it became known that the Tour of Yorkshire Cycling Race was planned to come through Keighley on Sunday 30th April, concern was expressed about the race's influence on the Ladies Rugby Game. In particular the planned road blockages for the cycle race may prevent team and supported access to Keighley's ground in a timely manner.

Thus Keighley were asked if their facilities were available on Sat 7th May, so that the game on 30th April could be switched to West Park Leeds' ground and their game scheduled for 7th May would be transferred to Keighley.

However today (20th April 2017), much to the great disappointment of the Yorkshire Ladies Team Manager, higher authority (Yorkshire RFU and the RFU) have dictated that both games are to be played at West Park Leeds' ground - one on 30th April and other on 7th May, citing problems with the Cycle race as the reason for not playing at Keighley RUFC. The race is planned to go through Silsden and over Rivock and down through Riddlesden and on through Keighley between 13:53 and 14:16.

The Tour de Yorkshire website under its frequently asked questions states:
WILL THERE BE THE SAME LEVEL OF ROAD CLOSURES AS FOR TOUR DE FRANCE?
No. Most will be rolling road closures lasting no more than an hour, apart from the start and finish lines and some climbs where the road closures will be longer. Road closures will be managed by the police.

So it seems a shame that the Yorkshire Ladies game has been cancelled at Keighley RUFC when it is planned that the road blocks will be rolling ones lasting 'no more than 1 hour'.
