Keighley without a league game travelled across the Pennines to Warrington for a friendly against Moore.

Without the pressure of league rugby Keighley were able to field some of the promising second team players. Although the weather and ground conditions were awful Keighley relished the opportunity, within the first five minutes some power play from the forwards gave the backs the chance to move the ball wide into the eager hands of winger Luke Carter who crossed in the corner.

Moore under considerable pressure from the Keighley forwards were forced to clear their line with defensive kicks. With Keighley's lineout men Walker and Illiff dominating the line this was a risky option. From a lineout number eight Leigh Sugden supported by the rest of the pack drove over the line to score.

Moore eventually took play deep into opposition territory but were unable to make headway because of the solid defence and the control exerted by the Keighley forwards. After withstanding some pressure Keighley worked their way downfield and from a line out and drive Sugden enjoying the conditions powered his way over the try line, converted by Alex Brown.

Once again Moore found themselves in good field position but their efforts were undone by a breakaway try from wing forward Shaun Minikin, converted by Brown. The second half was a similar performance. Moore had a fair share of possession but were dominated by the eager Keighley forwards.

Number eight Leigh Sugden was a dominant force throughout, and his high work rate was rewarded with a further two tries, both of which were converted by Brown. Although it was not a day for sparkling back play Keighley's full back Olly Mitchell on his debut for the first team joined the line to cross in the corner.

Finally, second row David Illiff finished off a fine run by winger Liam Everett to score wide out, Alex Brown landed the difficult conversion.

This Saturday a return to league rugby away at Acklam.
