The best game of rugby we've seen at Rose Cottage for a while!!!

A superb game of open rugby, both teams were intent on running with the ball at every opportunity, Keighley opened the scoring with a fine try for Marco Ferrazzano, who capitalised on a storming run by prop Slim Sinfield, Alex Brown converted. They added to their score ten minutes later with a well worked try in the corner from winger Sam Walker, Brown gained the extras with an impressive touch line conversion.

With their attacking instincts to the fore Bridlington responded in style, moving the ball quickly away from the contact area gave strong running centre Johnson a thirty yard dash through the middle to score, converted by full back S. Mellonby. With play flowing from end to end, Keighley chose to use their forwards to tighten the game up, some excellent driving play from the backrow and second row Stuart Inman gave Ferrazzano the opportunity he needed to force his way over the line for his second try, converted by Brown.

Five minutes later Keighley’s winger Lucus Uren crossed after some excellent support play from full back Rob Wilkinson, Brown landed his fourth conversion. Bridlington totally committed to attacking rugby put Keighley under extreme pressure, spurning three kickable penalties they chose to run the ball, in the end the pressure told with a well deserved try for second row P. Waines, Mellonby added the conversion and a few minutes later a penalty. On the stroke of half time Alex Brown responded with a long range penalty.

In the second half Keighley tightened their game up forcing Bridlington onto the back foot, pressure at a five metre scrum gave number eight Leigh Sugden the opportunity to pick up and drive over, converted by Brown. Bridlington’s response was fine driving play from their forwards and a well executed try for hard working outside half M.Robinson.

With time running out Keighley began to dominate the forward exchanges, a good supply of quality possession allowed Alex Brown the opportunity to control the flow of the game, good interpassing between forwards and backs was finished off with a try under the posts for Adam Horsfall, a little latter busy scrum half Andy Marklew finished off a move with a well deserved try, converted by Brown. Sam Walker completed the scoring with a typical wingers try, and brought to an end a thoroughly entertaining game for both players and spectators alike.
