Keighley finished off their league season in style with a resounding victory over Castleford.

In the opening minutes Keighley put the opposition under extreme pressure, a fine break by full back Danny McGee almost led to a try, instead they had to settle for a penalty which Alex Brown converted. Given the perfect weather conditions and the size and age of the Castleford forwards, it was clear that Keighley were intent on playing a fast wide game.

With a constant supply of quick ball from the forwards the Keighley backs were in their element, some fine runs by centres Ferrazzano and Horsfall, ably supported by inform scrum half Adam Balderstone caused problems for the Castleford defence. A quick tap penalty near the Castleford line gave Leigh Sugden the opportunity to drive the ball forward, second row Ian Buckley picked up at the base of the ensuing ruck and was driven over for a well worked try, which Brown converted.

From the restart Castleford were once again caught offside and another three points for Alex Brown. Five minutes later an excellent break by Lucas Uren was finished off by Brown, who crossed in the corner. Castleford were stung into action and mounted a series of attacks deep into Keighley territory, however good covering defence from forwards and backs kept them out.

In the second half Keighley ran riot, with Alex Brown organising the waves of attacks and classy full back Danny McGee able to join the line at will, it was only a matter of time before Castleford conceded. From a line out in the Castleford half Alex Brown found Scott Dyson in support, breaking the first tackle he found his back row colleague Dave Pullen, who drew the last man before putting Stuart Inman in for a try.

Within minutes a long distance break by Leigh Sugden once again found Pullen in support, this time he linked with Scott Dyson who broke through to score, converted by Brown. Castleford rallied, some excellent work by their back row led to well deserved tries for winger Chris Brown and centre Daniel Price, both of which Ian Mattison converted.

Keighley weathered the Castleford recovery and gained an advantage when one of their players was sent off for repeated infringements. Once again they pressured the opposition line and another penalty for Brown, and a try for veteran prop Paul Sinfield. As the final whistle approached it was one way traffic, Sam Walker and Scott Dyson both added late tries. Alex Brown capped a fine individual and team performance with both conversions
