However, within five minutes early pressure from Driffield and a clever switch of play gave winger Sam Furbank a try in the corner. Keighley stung into action attacked the midfield using centre Marco Ferrazzano to make ground.
Although they had long periods of territorial advantage they were having dififficulties gaining lineout possession which limited their attacking options. A penalty for Danny McGee was a just reward for their efforts. Driffield playing with confidence were able to absorbed early Keighley pressure and with the benefit of an excess of lineout possession returned to the attack, using the wide open spaces as often as possible. In the end the pressure told and winger Furbank was in at the corner for his second try.
Driffield sensing that the game was flowing in their favour turned the screw, quick ball from a scrum and a neat step gave outside half Lee Birch a simple try between the posts, which he converted. Towards the end of the half Keighley through the efforts of the pack caused Driffield a number of problems but simple handling errors let them off the hook. A late penalty from outside half McGee closed the half.
A stern talking to at the interval seemed to galvanise Keighley into action, from the whistle they were determined to take the game to the opposition. With Scott Dyson and the Sugden brothers to the fore Keighley caused Driffield a number of problems, which in the end led to a penalty for Danny McGee.
Returning to the attack Keighley put the squeeze on up front, dominating the home forwards. After a series of phases the Keighley forwards took play into the Driffield twenty two, with the defence fully occupied centres Danny Price and Marco Ferrazzano swept the ball to winger Adam Horsfall who crossed in the corner.
With Keighley in the ascendancy Driffield were at full stretch coping with attacks from centres Price and Ferrazzano through the middle and Horsfall and Walker down the wings. After weathering a series of attacks Driffield against the run of play moved the ball up field pressuring the Keighley line, good handling found full back Danny Smith supporting on the outside and a try in the corner.
In the dying minutes although Keighley winger Adam Horsfall came close to scoring on a number of occasions, the Driffield defence held out until the final whistle.
