For the first ten minutes the visitors dominated the exchanges, the only reward for their sustained effort was a penalty from full back C Williams. Keighley Slowly forced their way back into the game. Fullback Danny McGee and wingers Horsfall and Blackwell initiated a number of attacks that put the Dinnington defence under pressure.
With the Keighley forwards being driven on by captain Leigh Sugden, the backs had quality possession which allowed them to mount waves of attacks from all parts of the field. Under extreme pressure Dinnington conceded a line out deep in their territory, expecting a driving maul they left a gap which lively wing forward broke through to score in the corner. A few minutes later Alex Brown kept the scoreboard ticking over with a well struck penalty.
Dinnington responded well forcing play into the Keighley twenty two metre area, unfortunately for them the ball found its way into the hands of powerful runner Adam Horsfall who broke out of defence, after some neat work by full back McGee and centre Danny Price Alex Brown crossed in the corner.
In the early stages of the second half fine approach work from the Keighley forwards and centres Price and Ferrazzano gave winger Adam Horsfall a run into the corner, converted by Brown.
Dinnington in danger of being swamped raised their game and camped in the Keighley twenty two metre area, their hard work paid off when the pack forced their way over the try line, wing forward J. Donnelly claiming the touchdown. Dinnington with relegation at stake fought hard and kept the Keighley defence under pressure.
Towards the end of the game the visiting forwards began to tire which signalled the end, the young athletic Keighley pack in a rich vein of form linked well with the backs to keep the game fluid, some sparkling handling gave Ian Buckley a reward for his hard work with a well taken try, converted by Brown.
From the restart Keighley with their tails in the air attacked at every opportunity, running the Dinnington defence ragged, leading to a second try for Scott Dyson. Not to be out done Alex Brown took his chances well to claim his second, which he duly converted.
Next week Keighley are away at Knottingley, and the chance to reach the promotion play offs.
