Northallerton Match Preview
On Saturday, we welcome Northallerton to Keighley RUFC.
Northallerton was established in 1882, with their home ground being at Brompton Lodge, on Northallerton Road. They have two senior sides and a junior setup, in 2015 they reached the final of the National Junior Vase Final which was played at Twickenham.
Northallerton currently sits second in the league with 28 points with 5 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw, that loss was against Wetherby at home 2 weeks ago. They were prompted to Y2 back in 2017/18 as champions, finishing 4th in 2018/19 and 10th in 2019/20.
According to the online Northern Division records that go back to 2005, we have not played Northerallerton before, so Saturday’s game will be the first encounter since 2005.
Defence, within the Northern Division, compared to other teams that have played 7 games we currently sit 3rd on 77 points, helped with the tremendous defensive display at North Ribb last Saturday, it's not often you nil a team!
That defence will be key on Saturday, with what will be a top-two encounter, Keighley have the home advantage and a better record, so will probably be the “bookies favourite”, but as we all know that counts for nothing on the day, it will come down to who wants it more!
Player availability and injury concerns – Sean Kelly – Knee, Luke Currie – Ankle, Sam Cleaver unavailable.
