Keighley Academy travelled to the Old Brods with only 13 available players

Keighley Academy travelled to the Old Brods with only 13 available players , so yet again it was time for the younger lads to step up to the plate and the more experienced players to show them the way. Keighley playing with one player less for the entire game , started the game playing down the slope with the wind at their backs.

The first quarter saw both sides finding their feet with possession on several occasions . The only score , a Johnny Harrison penalty on 17 minutes .On 22 minutes Micky Phillips pulled off a toe curler of a tackle on his opponent created space for Marcus Jordan to show a clean pair of heels and race under the sticks . Johnny Harrison added the extras to make it 0-10. On the stroke of half time Ross Lacey made it 2 tries in as many games with a great effort out wide which couldn't be converted , to make the half time score 0-15

The second half started with an unconverted Brods Try . After this the game turned scrappy with tempers starting to fray on both sides as both teams searched for the upper hand. As the half continued Keighley started to turn the screw with Johnny Harrison instrumental in many of the attacks. On 60 minutes a lovely break by Ross Lacey, backed up by Phillips who released Jimmy Morton to finish under the posts , a Harrison conversion made it 5-22. Marcus Jordan was next in on the act with his second try after the stripping the ball in a tackle and racing 40yds to the try line. Harrison yet again adding the extras to make the score 5-29.

With seconds left on the clock Brods crashed over for an unconverted try to make the final score 10-29 to Keighley. Again MASSIVE plaudits must go to the youth , 2 try Marcus Jordan, Pete Watson and Man of the match Henry Pratt who all tackled everything that ran at them , round them and over them. These lads are showing maturity beyond their years. An all round fantastic team effort from all the lads with 2 very impressive wins on the bounce.

Just think what we could actually do if we had a full squad on a Saturday !!!!!
