A strong and well organised Wharfedale side simply had no answer to the combination of skill, effort, energy, strength and above all team work that the Keighley side showed. It was testament to their approach that both Wharfedale’s tries came from broken play rather than from their organised attack. When they did threaten the try line, the Keighley defence simply held tight, driving them back on many occasions and turning the ball over. This was one of the most improved areas of their play, along with the cohesion and strength at the ruck where they simply drove over to create good, clean ball.
The Paul brothers (Robert and Matthew NOT Henry and Robbie) showed great skills and awareness in their game play, Liam Brookes displayed quick handling skills whilst Samuel Grant turned the ball over time and time again.
Tries came from Harvey Kemp, Harry Gallagher and Josh Wisaur, with Ellie Kildunne grabbing a brace and Ryan Gibson poaching four!
All players showed just how much they had developed, both as individuals and as team members – none more so than Josh Addy who created space for the whole team with his marauding runs.
Hopefully the run of success will continue to breed confidence in the side as they head towards a Christmas rest.
