An organised and rested Brods side threw everything at Keighley but they managed to hold firm in the main. Liam Brookes displayed a blend of direct play and deft handling , Tom Wilson ensured that runners around the fringe were stopped in their tracks whilst Samuel Grant harried from the front. For all their endeavour and team work the team never quite managed to build the cohesion going forward that they displayed in the first game, instead failing to drive over the ball at times allowing the opposition to gather easy ball and to steal possession in the maul. Reece Butler and Jax Watson linked well in the three quarter line whilst Josh Addy made telling inroads into the defence and even though the team were behind on the scoreboard throughout the match they never gave up. Ryan Gibson bagged another brace of tries whilst Harry Gallagher showed a clean pair of heels to score in the corner. To lose by one try against this team is nothing to be ashamed of – the coaches and the parents are extremely proud of each and every one of them and know there is yet more to come. A chance to train together again will allow the team to refine the technical aspects of the game in which they have improved out of all recognition whilst remembering to run onto the ball in order to generate pace and cross the gain line.
