Maul after maul, ruck after ruck Keighley held their own

With less than five minutes rest, Keighley took to the field again against a team who were able to make five interchanges.
Yet again, however, their determination and team ethic was evident from the first whistle. Maul after maul, ruck after ruck Keighley held their own. Archie Mowle was able to show the skills he has developed in ball handling and tackling whilst holding a tight defensive line.
As the game grew on there was little in it. Rishworthians were playing in their own half for most of the first half, Keighley taking everything to them but failing to cross the line. Too much mauling and the resultant wrestle was to blame for this, but when they could they went to ground, drove over and created opportunities.
The first time the hosts got in their half, however, disaster struck. A quick breakaway from the breakdown saw a one try to nil lead develop just before half time.
Heads could have gone down but Keighley were having none of it. They fought, battled and held their heads up collectively. Sticking to their developed skills and game plan they rucked and passed, driving forward and gaining territiory. Eventually their perseverance paid dividends as Ryan Gibson crossed the line again.
After the pessimistic outlook before the match the coaches would have settled for a draw, but it was clear that the players didn’t share their thoughts. Again, Samuel Grant crossed the line but was denied yet again by an unsighted ref. With the penultimate play of the game Harry Gallagher raced the full length of the pitch to secure victory and make all mothers proud on their special day!

Proud would be too simple a term to describe how the coaches felt about their players afterwards. Their attitude and the results speak volumes for them all.
