Played at half time at Leeds vs Newcastle at Headingley stadium, infront of a crowd of over 7000, Keighley were determined to both entertain and defend during their 10 minutes of fame. After just one training session the team looked to carry on from where they left off in April and it was hard to believe that they were playing their first game of the season. Strong and direct running from all kept their opponents pinned back in their own half for most of the match, with high quality rucking ensuring continued possession at the breakdown. Any breaks by Wensleydale were snuffed out by keen tackling from all, often turning the ball over too. Ryan Gibson managed a brace of tries, resisting the temptation to showboat, whilst one of the biggest cheers of the afternoon was reserved for Ellie Kildunne's solo try. The whole squad had a fantastic afternoon out, represented themselves and the club in an exemplary manner and contributed in full to a game that eclipsed the "main event" of Leeds v Newcastle in terms of excitement and open play.
