Keighley’s strong Under 10’s won two exciting games against local rivals Ilkley on Sunday 27th. Keighley, missing only James Field (broken arm), Alex Womersley (illness) and Oliver Brown from their competitive squad, took on two Ilkley Under 10’s t

GAME 1
Keighley showed immediately why they have truly become a team to be reckoned with an early drive from the forwards with excellent interplay leaving Jack Rodbourne to power over the line.
Score - Ilkley 0 – Keighley 5.
Ilkley kicked off and immediate conceded turn over ball when Lennon Curr showed his excellent long passing as well as his good hands to pick up from Jack Rodbourne leading to strong drives from both Jayden Emmott and Joseph Myers. Keighley were held at bay on the Ilkley try-line leading to scrum and Keighley’s powerful forward drive and Lennon Curr’s quick thinking sees him over the line.
Score - Ilkley 0 – Keighley 10.
The third try came after some strong mauling leading to a line out where the ball was picked up by Tom Richardson and out to Zac Scott who jinked over the line.
Score - Ilkley 0 – Keighley 15.
Lack of concentration led to Ilkley pulling a try back straight from the initial kick off to reduce the deficit.
Score - Ilkley 5 – Keighley 15.
Keighley’s fourth was created out of strong mauling by Austin Flaherty and Jack Rodbourne and good back play through Aaron Wilson linking with Zac Scott to score.
Score - Ilkley 5 – Keighley 20.
Keighley’s fifth try came from great link up play between Lennon Curr, Will Halliday and Jayden Emmott with Jayden finishing the play with a try to open up the advantage once more.
Score - Ilkley 5 – Keighley 25.
The same three were involved in the sixth with strong scrumming leading to excellent link up play with Jayden Emmott scoring his second to make it 6 Tries to 1 Try.
Score - Ilkley 5 – Keighley 30.
The seventh was created from strong forward play with Joseph Myers driving straight down the pitch to the 22 where Jayden Emmott picked up the loose ball from the maul to score Keighley’s seventh and get his hat trick.
Score - Ilkley 5 – Keighley 35.

HALF TIME - Ilkley 5 – Keighley 35.

The second half was played out in a similar vein with Keighley dominating in all departments and Will Halliday showing both his superior tackling skills as well as his running skills finishing off with a try which was well deserved! 8-1
A concerted period of pressure with great team work from all of the Keighley boys saw the two final tries falling to Zac Scott after determined work on his part!
