The second match of the day proved to be a much sterner test for Keighley

The second match of the day always proved to be a much sterner test for Keighley. Old Rishworthians lived up to expectations and showed themselves to be strong, powerful, well drilled and full of technique. The game was certainly a full blooded encounter which ebbed and flowed as the two teams seemed to nullify each other to some extent.

There have been games in the past where the Keighley side would have rolled over but not on this occasion. Every drive was met by a wall of tacklers and every kick ahead was run back and yards gained. In attack Keighley were not able to spin the ball as wide as in the previous encounter but sharp and short interconnections provided a base to move forward and gain territory.

Keighley were showing good discipline too as they clearly rattled their visitors who were unused to such a stern test. With discipline came control and it was the home side who opened the scoring as they showed that they understood the subtleties of the game and their technique then created gaps for runners.

Old Rishworthians held firm. The scrums were shared in terms of the spoils and Keighley must work hard at their line out skills as too much ball was lost at this set piece. The visitors replied before Keighley scored again and it became clear that victory would be theirs. One more try a piece gave the final score with Keighley tries coming from Harry Gallagher (2) and Harvey Kemp; conversions were all kicked by Ryan Gibson.
