U13's @ Skipton 7's Festival

With four key players absent due to West Yorkshire regional trials, Keighley fielded a nine man squad who showed the level of strength in depth and commitment that is growing in this group of players. Recent improvements in fitness and stamina were clearly evident and enabled Keighley to dominate play.

They opened their campaign against Bees with an emphatic 29-0 victory, with Kaleb Shaw showing his team mates the way forward by scoring two tries in as many minutes, with Jordan Powell converting one of the tries.

The second half started 12-0 to Keighley and this increased with Louis Holmes and Reece Holmes crossing the line, before Captain Jobe Saint was rewarded for his strong running and determination with a try in the last minute. Powell added a conversion to give Keighley the perfect start.

Next was Skipton A Team who ran in two early tries to lead 10-0 at half time. Keighley showed great character to respond with an early try from Reece Holmes for Powell to convert. Skipton responded with a try, but Keighley were made of sterner stuff with Liam King forcing through for two unconverted tries to secure a 17-17 draw against the future tournament winners.

The final pool game saw Keighley secure a close victory against a spirited North Ribblesdale with a try from the recently returned Bill Cubitt who looked particular sharp, followe by further scores from Jobe Saint and Louis Holmes.

This saw Keighley through to the semi finals where they were narrowly defeated by Ilkley 12-5.
