Keighley return to form and dominate Old Brods

Keighley started the morning eager to put into practice the weeks training session and consolidate lessons learnt.

Brodleians got the match underway and Keighley responded with a powerful drive from Harvey Bird and Jack Rodbourne.
Quick hands along the backline found the ball with Jack McHugh who was bundled into touch 5m out.
Clean line out ball and solid forward drives saw Lucas Ryan crash over the line in the corner.
Lennon Curr was unable to convert.

A knock on from the restart saw a passage of broken play, possession se-sawing between teams.
Eventually Leon Hobson secured turnover ball and outpaced the Brods defence to score out wide.
Lennon Curr narrowly missed the conversion.

10 - 0

The restart found Bobby Darbyshire equal to the task and a great solo run allowed him to feed the ball to Kier Welch in support and he crossed the line with ease.
Ethan Lawrie was unable to convert.

Brodleians were struggling to cope with the strong running keighley team
Jack Mchugh powered through the defence line and was just pulled down 5m short.
Three quick drives and Leon Hobson brushed the defence aside and added five points.
The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

A deep restart kick had Ethan Lawrie waiting for it.
A determined run and a show of speed was only halted by the Brods fullback pulling him down 10m from the line and the ball was cleared to touch
Offside at the lineout gave Ethan Lawrie the opportunity to drive over the line from the penalty.
once again the conversion was unsuccessful.

Keighley chose this moment to fall asleep and he restart was gathered by the Brods winger who raced unopposed over the Keighley try line.

Keighley pressure from the restart forced Brods to concede a scrum 5m out from their line.
Great passing down the line gave Josh Slingsby the ball and he dove over the whitewash for a further 5 points.
Lennon Curr thumped the ball between the uprights for the extra points.

Halftime

Brodleians misfortune continued with a knock on from the kick.
A solid scrum and the ball was whisked along the line to Jack McHugh who was brought to a halt 10m from the line.
Jack Rodbourne in support recieved the ball and battered his way through the defence and over the line under the posts.
Ethan Lawrie added the conversion.

39 - 5

Nico Mori confidently recieved the restart kick and charged for the line.
Jack Rodbourne in support took the ball and fed Aaron Wilson who in turn popped a lovely ball to Zach Scott who darted in and added another try.
The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

Once again from the restart Keighley applied pressure.
Brods managed to secure a scrum and drove deep into the keighley half.
Keighley turned over the ball and headed for the Brods line, the ball being bundled into touch midfield.
David Torres managed to steal the ball and broke through feeding Jack McHugh who scored in the corner.
The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

Mistakes were being made by both sides until Leon Hobson stole the ball , handed off three Brods defenders and outpaced the rest of the defence to score a fine solo try.

Keighley decided to finish strongly and a powerful drive from Nico Mori displaying good awareness saw him flick the ball to Ethan Lawrie in support who crashed over to add another 5 points.

Brodleians took a quick restart and Scott Thornton was the first to react and he gathered the ball.
Keighley knocked on and Brods fired a long testing kick downfield.
Joel Waddington read the game well and was in place to recieve the ball and show his pace, returning the ball 45m.
Keighley continued to apply pressure until Brods conceded a penalty.
Quick thinking from scrum half Kier Welch saw him take a quick tap and dive over the line.
The conversion was unsuccessfull.

'We had a couple of good runs with crash ball but we just need to drag a support player with us and there was only one or two 1 on 1 missed tackles compared to last week but all round I thought we had a pretty good game'. Jack Rodbourne
