Keighley 19 - Roundhegians 17

Keighley vs Roundhegians

The Keighley squad approached this game with a determined focus on reversing the recent spate of lost matches.

It was great to see the majority of the squad appear on time and start the warm up themselves. A good indicator that they were all here to make a difference on the first team pitch.

From the initial kick off the whole team were working together and the communication clearly heard between the team as they adapted their plays to meet the attack from the Roundhegians team.

Roundhegians are a strong squad, their pack visibly larger than Keighley and their backs illustrating on several occasions that they had the pace to out sprint the Keighley wingers.

Keighley were not distracted by either the size or the speed and played strong to secure the ball and use the full width of the backs to find the gaps in the Roundhegians defence.

The Keighley pack was built with several players in non-standard positions, which was to no detriment as they illustrated their strength against the larger pack, winning several scrums and rucks against the head. The first try of the match being owned by the strength of the Keighley pack, Jordan Yaxley crashing through to score in the final stage.

The game was close, each side having a slight advantage in a couple of areas against their competition. When each side took their advantage the tries were scored.

Keighley won the victory through their strength, determination and accuracy at conversions.

A great result that the full team celebrated with a loud cheer at the final whistle.

The win has arrived and the tide of defeats has changed. Onwards and upwards for the remainder of the season!!
