Coaches Comments:

Steve Welch:

Fantastic atmosphere for game under lights; it was good to see so many supporters for our game.

The lads again took up the challenge of assisting Salem who could only muster 11 players; credit to those who pulled on a Salem shirt, they did themselves and our club proud.

The first twenty minutes were the most competitive, with some heavy challenges going in. I thought we were relatively comfortable and bossed the breakdown to give a solid attacking platform. After ringing the changes every ten minutes to ensure every player got some game time; several players were playing in a new position which they adapted to very well.

Couple of special mentions:
Joss McArthur standing out whilst on his Salem stint and continued it into the final third, excellent.
Adam Kemp for his work rate in the loose and his determination when the game was tight.
Lucas Ryan making two double tackles in quick succession, possibly the first time he has put this skill into practice on game day.
Keir Welch receiving the stand out back award from his development position of wing; receiving a fat lip in the process!
Josh Slingsby making a try saving tackle from full back, and continues to impress in a new position.

Nigel Curr:

The boys played very well on Friday night despite all the changes.

The forwards give the backs a very good platform to run the moves we have been working on on the training paddock.

Joss McArthur put a big shift in in the second row making tackles and carrying.

The back row worked very well again as a unit as did the half backs.
They are starting to build so very good partnerships 9, 10, 12 look strong going forward and they are starting to move up in defence and put pressure on their options.

The new look back three are starting to gel and understand what there doing both in attack and defence.

Captains Comment:

Nico Mori:

Another good performance from the lads.
We played some good rugby.
We need to keep working on concentrating all the match.
Plenty to work on in training.
Well done boys!
