Improving Keighley fail to realise potential.

An improving Keighley side took the field to face a confident Wetherby 15.
Poor discipline and unfavourable decisions gave Wetherby a 14 - 0 halftime lead
Keighley responded well in the second half but were unable to convert pressure to points allowing Wetherby an unconverted try.
Leon Hobson- Sheriff powered over for a consolation try

Coaches Comment:

Steve Welch
A passionate and stirring second half performance wasn't enough to overturn a half time deficit of 14-0.
We created all the second half pressure but couldn't convert into points; due to a robust Wetherby defence and key handling errors in their twenty two.
We achieved our first goal which was not to concede in the first fifteen minutes as we have done in important games.

All in all our lads gave everything for their shirt, we couldn't have asked for any more effort.
The 19-5 score line flattered Wetherby; although we were perhaps not clinical enough to win the game.
They should be proud of their performance against a well organised Wetherby side.

The lads worked their socks off today!
There was a tear in some of there eyes when the ref blew for full time.
The lads just don't seem to be getting the rub of the green at the minute which is frustrating for them as the performance is there.
We will keep trying to improve and move forward with our season.
The pack as a whole where dominant in most of the game
I think we are too honest at the break down but the more they watch and play the game they will get there.
It wasn't the day for the backs today with the wind and rain but they tried to play rugby they looked like they could of cut lose with a bit more clean ball but it wasn't to be in attack today.
The backs defence was very good in the middle of the field with 10 12 13 playing as a new combination for the first time
All in all they just need that little bit of luck going there way and there season will explode in to life.

Captains Comment:

Nico Mori
